It ran fine until now. The other night I plugged it in after use and left it on the counter. In the morning I heard the low battery (high pitched alarm). The single green light was still illuminated. The power button however now has no effect and won't even light up itself. The green light goes out when I unplug. The battery has been fine (3-4 hrs still). I have had no USB devices in it for the past couple of uses. Pulling the battery, unplugging etc etc haven't helped.

Forum searches so far reveal no other cases of the same problem

Anyone heard of this?
Thanks very much.

I had similar power issues with mine. Hesitated to take call about the warranty b/c it was just intermitent. One month out of warranty and had to take it to a repair shop. They said the motherboard had to entirely be replaced, a $600+ repair and I have since read elsewhere that it is common to have the power connection break from the motherboard on these models.

Furious at it costing more to repair that what we paid for the dumb thing, we called Toshiba. After an hour on hold, customer service said to take it to an authorized repair center and it will be taken care of. They must know they have a problem with this, they rolled over pretty easy. I turned it in on Friday, and should get it back next week.

I highly reccommend taking it in right away if it is under warranty or if not, call Toshiba, it's certainly not an abuse issue when the motherboard just give out. I think it's just shoddy equipment!

Good luck
