We're upgrading 25 computers at our office which had the K7S5A's die because of the infamous "bad caps" problem. I've purchased the ECS N2U400's, most of which run fine, but four of them simply will NOT do anything. New RAM, PS, CPU, video card--makes no difference. Turning on starts the fans, the optical mouse light comes on, but will not post or send out video signal. Tried the "remove the ram and see if it squeals from the case fan" trick; three of them won't even do that, one does, but that's all.

Anybody else had reliability problems with these? I've only had two other ones of that model die, but I found that problem was a power surge through a modem that wasn't connected to the surge protector. Any hints as to what to look for in the future?

I have had that board for a year and a half, it is discontinued and
probably considered out of date. It is very particular about the ram
you use. Kingston most stable. Have you tried resetting the bios?
Unplug and move jumper and put back then plug in power cord . I had a
XP2800 go bad right after I first got mine and had to do that to get it
to boot into the Bios. My 2800 would only run at FSB 100 mhz when it
was bad.I have a XP3200+ running fine now. Where did you get the
boards? They may have been returns. If they are for an Office you might
want to get some more reliable boards.
