I have a Maxtor CD-Writer/reader, and I am using Windows XP
I take music lessons and record, on a small tape recorder, the current song
I am learning while the teacher plays it.
Using the Audio Central in the program - I attach my tape recorder to the
computer via a cord going from the headphone jack in the tape recorder to
the microphone jack in the back of the computer. I play the recorder, and
must record at a very very low volume to avoid so much noise in the finished
file I can't hear the music. I have made perhaps as many as 18 of these CDs,
one for each song I learn. I fill the CD with copies so it can be played
easily over and over again.
25% of the time the recordings come out in a way that even if I turn my CD
player up to the maximum volume I cannot hear the song over my own playing.
The maximum volume sounds more like the middle of the volume choice on my
player. I cannot figure out what I am doing to cause this only occasionally.
I need the extra volume so that when I am playing (a hammer dulcimer) I can
play along with the music and hear the recorded song.
How can I increase the volume of the recorded file? If I increase the volume
while recording the recording is not good. Why does this only happen
occasionally? I hate to waste CDs playing with controls. I have a slow
writer and it is just about impossible for me to find the lower speed CDs
that will work. I don't think it has anything to do with my CD writer. There
must me something I can do to control how much volume will be able to be had
from the recording, before burning the CD.
Would appreciate any help. I am really frustrated with this. It is really
the only reason I use the program.
