Wondering if any of you can help me out. Just purchased a Aopen i945 MB and
using it with a Pentium D 820. Hooked everything up and powered up.
Everything seems fine...Pc posts, HD detects, memory detects, and DVD drive
detects. So when I proceded to install Windows everything goes well. Boot to
CD-ROM and blue screen comes up and Windows loads all the drivers. Once all
the drivers are loaded and it says Windows is setting up...here I get a
error message. Says something like:
A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to
your PC. Check for viruses. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard
drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure its properly
configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /F to check for hard drive corruption
and then restart.
So far...I have tried a different hard drive and different RAM. Same result.
Motherboard and CPU are brand new...as is the RAM. Video card is a PCI-E
Geforce 6800GT that I have tested on another PC. Hard drives are both IDE
and I have both disabled and enabled the auto SATA controller in the bios.
Any idea what could be the problem? Hard drive is on primary master and DVD
ROM is on Secondary master. Is there some setting in the bios I have to
change? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I just had this exact same problem this last weekend. I'm not sure
exactly what board you're using.. there's a few different models of
AOpen's i945 series. I have the one with onboard graphics (budget
constraints :P ). After about 25 attempted installs I decided to
disable EVERY piece of onboard hardware (except the onboard video, of
course)... USB, LAN, Sound, etc... I also removed all other hardware
that wasn't necessary (additional optical drives, additional hard
drives, my wireless card, and additional sticks of DDR). I only had my
SATA HD and one optical drive pluged into the primary IDE socket that
sits by itself.. (not one of the paired sockets). After all of this I
was able to install windows without a hitch. After a successful
installation, I enabled one piece of hardware at a time and installed
the drivers then rebooted and repeated until everything was installed.
Also, you might want to flash your BIOS.. I think there was a new BIOS
that was just released. Good Luck! |

I've just bought a945Ga-PLF and had very similar problems. I installed XP
by using only the ATA33 connection. HD and CD/DVD on same cable. You will
need BIOS 1.07 to be able to boot from the ATA66,100 connectors on the ITE
controller. To install XP directly to the ATA66,100 connectors you need to
load the ITE drivers from the AOpen CD. Shortly after you boot to the XP
CD, you get a message saying to press F6 if you want to load additional
drivers. Copy the drivers from the DRIVER\IDE\ITE\ITB8211F folder to a 3.5
diskette. The XP setup process will ask you to insert the disk in the A
drive at the appropriate time.
