Hi,
The solution mentioned earlier in another post
was not what i was looking for.
Lets say, an cdrom (audio) bought in an music store
has most of the time an printed surface at the labelside of
the disk.
What happend, i have an disk and an little piece of the surface
is missing, so one song is damaged.
Is there an way to repair this, so that the reflection is restored:
thanks

Some music shops like HMV sell cd repair machines. Never used one but it looks like a plastic version of a desktop grinding wheel only it has a handle to turn and a polishing wheel to smooth off the surface of the disc.
Although from what you are saying, it sounds like the cd is chipped rather than scratched, most likely taking some of the shiny reflective surface with it. In that case, its a new disc. Even if you were to retrieve the part that is missing, replacing it perfectly would be impossible |

A CD ROM, usually you will find the data medium is the underside of the label, the actual plastic is just for protection.... don't believe me....?
Get a old one and snap it in half..... and you'll see.... do wear gloves and do look away or at least wrap some newspaper round or hold it in a plastic bag - sometimes bits will fly off in all directions...!
Better still just scrape the foil away.
Once the label has been damage, scratch or even pitted as if something sharp as pressed hard against it I very much doubt it will be restored.
Scratched CD's, DVD's included can be made good by polishing with Brasso or Silvo metal polish and a soft duster the scratches do come out, I've repaired commercial CD's with this method - the secret is doing it evenly in a circular motion over the plain side of the disc.
Any old CDs, DVD's don't clod em', tie string to them and hang them up in the garden and it'll keep the bird's away, .... the feathered type's..... stop them pinching freshly sewn seeds.
