I received a nice Viewsonic VP930b on XMAS day. On Decemeber 28th
(today) I turned it on and 10 minutes later this window popped up
saying This computer is not authorized for use with this LCD display.
Please use the perfect suite program to disable the Theft Deterrence
feature. Note this is a window brought up by the monitor, not the
computer. Unfortunately PerfectSuite requires a pin that I supposedly
entered when I turned turned on theft deterrence (which I did not) so I
am stuck with this window. I called Viewsonic Tech Support and they are
mystified and escalating the issue. Has this happened to anyone else
out there? Do I have to ship this sucker back?

Thanks,
Marc Fuller
P.S. If words are mispelled it's because it is difficult to read what I
am typing throug the theft deterent window.

Hi,

we have exactly the same problem, but we know exactly the PIN we've
assigned to it. It's just not accepting it. Maybe someone else has any
idea...

Thanks,
baupi

Apparently there is one tech at Viewsonic in California that can
resolve this. Nobody else there has knowledge. I had to fax them my
receipt as proof of ownership and now he is supposed to call me. I am
waiting impatiently for this to be resolved. Almost ready to ship the
monitor back to vendor and get another brand!

Hi,

thanks for the update. Here in Europe (I am from Austria) it seems to
be quite harder to get some "useful" support. They just promised to
call me back within the next days, but it seems that they don't have
any glue about how to resolve it.

Please keep me updated as soon as you have a solution for it.

thanks very much

So when this works properly, what is it supposed to do?

.... besides destroy the resale value of the monitor, that is.

Hello Moss-Moss,
My problem appears exactly like you after updating the perfect suite program !!!!! I would says to all 930b owners : "DO NOT UPGRADE PerfectSuite " !!!!!.
I phone ViewSonic France Support ( I am in France ) but the person I had on the phone told me that they are absolutly not concerned with this problem !!!!! mad : and that PerfectSuite should be contacted.
So, I went to the link below:
http://www.portrait.com/scripts/support_contact.php?OEM=vsc&ULANG=enu&PRODUCT=dtune
Fill the form with the desciption of the problem .
Then I was contacted by email and asked for the purchase form ;
After that I received the "magic" recovery procedure .
And now everything works fine again ....!!!!!! smile
I would says that I had very good and fast support from Portrait Support ,if I compare with ViewSonic France !!!!! mad
I hope that my mssg will help everyone with same problem !

Jeeps

Had the same problem: one cloudy Friday morning the Theft Deterrence "feature" decided to activate itself! frown After reading this forum I contacted Portrait to receive instructions on how to reset the monitor.

I present here the TRUTH! How to easily reset your VP930 monitor:

1. AC power off (near the VGA/DVI connectors of the monitor)
2. Press and hold the [Up] and [Power] buttons (front panel)
3. AC power on
4. Keeping holding until the message "ALL RESET" appears

C'est tout! Your monitor is fixed. big grin
Have a nice day.
