Hi NG.

I have a KT133A ECS. The mighty K7VZA Rev.3.0.

Is it possible to drive a AMD Athlon XP "Barton" in this MB? If so, as
I heard from other KT133A-Brands that Barton can work, is the whole
second-level cache (512k) recognised and supported.

Many thanks for further Information.

Best Regards,

Update to the latest BIOS (v3.7) and try it out. There is no hardware
limitation of the KT133A to support the Barton core with 512K cache,
but you're stuck at 266MHz instead of the 333MHz FSB the Barton uses.
You won't be getting the full speed (underclocked) and may end-up with
the system identifying the chip as "unknown" AMD processor, but it will
likely run with no problems.

There are some rare desktop XP2800+ Bartons with 266MHz FSB floating
around.
