I just noticed I posted my 100th post and would like to thank you for this outlet. This is the only set of boards I've ever been on, that 53 million people, who have no clue what they're talking about, don't gang up on you. This reminds me of the old Usenet days.

Yes, the boards are slow, but so far, they havent' lost anything mid-stream. I sometimes write very long and thoughtful posts. Nothing's worse then finally getting it right and have the server time out when I'm trying to post. Post lost and I don't write it twice...

I have experience with many flavors of Windows, WiFi, IT security etc. ad nausem and have been with these machines for over 20 years. I love to help people, (I have my own tips site) but I hate young kid, know nothing, snerts!

This is the only board where I'm not attacked, snerted, or otherwise distracted. I come in here, usually once a day, to see what's up and what problems people are having. If the question's answered, I don't bother. If the answer is wrong, I correct it, if unclear, I expound on it.

I'm not the only one who does this and it's refreshing. I don't have to repost 90 times on the same thread answering a lot of kids! That makes my time here very productive. I don't mind helping, as long as my time is productive.

I hope you can continue to keep this site informative, and tight.

Thanks

PS: By the way, does "Guru" mean I win a prize? LOL

Hey Danny,

Thanks so much for your kind, encouraging words!!! thumbsup And welcome to the GURU club! There are no prizes yet but stay tuned - that's going to change pretty soon! big grin

I'm currently working on performance optimization - the site is not as fast as it it use to be. Well, no wonder, the total number of messages is more than 600K!

600K? Hell, I have a gig on my web site. Of course, this is probably more a problem of data querys, vs. a regular internet server. Hey, I know, I'm only making fun.

Cheers!

Wow! I don't know if this will help as I don't know a lot about this subject:

Perhaps it would be possible to archive very old material as read only. This may help take the load off.

Another thing, perhaps it's possible to further compartmentalize the boards. Such as Hard drives, mobo's, video cards, etc. This may help in the archives I mentioned, and may help the query's run faster.

You know, it's only going to get worse. LOL

When you're tearing your hair out, visit the Danny's Daily's section of my site for a smile.

I wouldn't want your problems...

Ah, the life we choose. LOL
