My Compaq Presario 5838 was starting to show it's age, so got me a
pretty green ibuypower instead. Very happy so far, but having trouble
getting stuff moved across.
Tried simply unplugging from the cable modem and into the nic on the
old computer - couldn't get it to work, do I need a special cable for
this?
So, tried making a CD-RW. The presario still uses the old "PacketCD"
program. It initializes the disk, then I put about 68 mb of stuff on
it. New computer only saw a blank disk, but the old one could read it
fine! Thought maybe it was because CD-RW. So I try a CD-R. Read
about 70% okay, but said two folders were empty, when they weren't.
Tried an old CD-R I had made long ago, and the new computer read it
fine.
Should I try my lens cleaner on the CD-RW? Anything else that might
help?
Thanks, all!
