I just changed a bad cap in my Gigabyte GA-7VAXP rev 1 mobo and was amazed at what I found which effect all mobos and other electronic equipment with Taiwan made capacitors, apparently some industrial espoinage had been going on and during the process someone was given the wrong formula for the electrolyte, to cut a long story short this is a water based stuff which produces hydrogen and blows the vents on the capacitor spewing corrosive gunge which can eat away the copper tracks on the mobo.
This applies to all brands of capacitors made in Taiwan, in my case the green GSC types, this is not saying that all GSC capacitors are bad.
The link below will explain all

Thanks to Impmon & Beowulf.
I should have pointed out that this applies to all 'electronic devices' that use these capacitors, power supplies, camcorders, TV's & videos, the list goes on, not just as I mentioned to mobos.
Capacitors made in Japan are not affected.

I'm in the same trade. It's quite common to find standard types in places like SMPS in a majority of equipment, as you may be aware using these around the feedback loop in a 'switch-mode' supply could leave a trail of molten silicon due to over voltage and non regulation.
Or where the copper cicuit tracks had to be repaired because of leakage causing the copper tracks to eat away, it eats through the protection layer like quite rapidly.
Many a time to find these the only specialised equipment required is the eye's and nose, when unsoldering the heat made the smell worse.
I use Rubycon from time to time but never seen the Lubycon copy's the article mentions.
Thanks for reading and replying
