|

When I start up my computer I get 2 short beeps, it goes through the post OK, then it goes to a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. No HDD activity or anything.
I have the newest BIOS rev. and 512 Ram(2X256).
I can enter Windows Recovery Console fine, so its not my Video Card.
I am stumped......
Do I need to reinstall Windows XP Home? |

Based on your beep code, I am guessing this is an Award BIOS. This means a memory parity error. Does your POST show that the memory is working?
I am considering buying a TigerDirect system with this board, and do not yet have it. _________________ Guy |

Yah, it does the memory check fine. I have 512 and that is what is shows.
I have tried booting with just one of the chips in, then the other, then in another slot, then the other slot. I always get the same thing.
Could this be becuase I am not using SATA??? |

SATA should not be a problem. Please post your BIOS type -- all indications are a parity error in your memory, whch should stop the system there.
Things to check:
Check your optical and HD connections, both IDE and power. Since you are successfully completing POST, the other possibility is that you have no bootable drive connected to the system. You should either have an optical drive, and you are trying to boot with the Operating system CD in it, or your hard drive is already configured with your operating system. If there is nothing to mount it will just stare back at you, but the beeps would not indicate this.
Are you using an AGP video card or a PCI card? If PCI, it must be in slot 1 on this type of board. You may also have to set a jumper to bypass the on-board AGP setting in the south bridge. Either way, remove and re-seat the card to make sure it is all they in.
Also, does this board use the ATX +4 connector? Is it hooked up?
