|
|
Hi.
(btw new to Sun hardware)
I have a SparcServer20 but with no hard disks. I understand it takes
SCA? I have seen on google combinations of:
SCA
SCA-2
SCA-2 SCSI-3
I am eyeing up an 18gig drive, but could someone point me to what I
need?
Many thanks,
Pete. |

The scsi bus should be able to downgrade. What you must look out for
is that the drive is 1" high, otherwise it will not fit the case. BTW,
you also need the drive mounting sled.

When you say 'SparcServer20' do you mean 'SparcStation20'? If so, avoid
the IBM DMVS model. For reasons which are not clear, the OBP firmware
refuses to recognize this unit. You _can_ use it as a secondary drive,
though, since a booted Solaris system does cooperate with it. |

The SPARCserver 20 and the SPARCstation 20 are basically the same
machine. The difference is that the SPARCserver was delivered without a
framebuffer and with a server license. The SPARCstation was delivered
with a framebuffer and a desktop license. The visible difference was
the nameplate on the cover, it said "SPARCstation 20" (nameplate part#
261-1269) or "SPARCserver 20" (nameplate part# 261-2071).
The SS20 was also sold as Netra i20, Netra s20, Netra i600 and Netra
i625.
